The story of teddyand.me
Georgia Marshall-Brown is the Mum and brains behind teddyand.me. Frustrated by boring, gender stereotyped children’s fashion, Georgia took up her needle and thread and set about designing original, fun and comfortable clothes for her son.
A passionate and lifelong craft-a-holic, Georgia has a BaHons in Graphic Design, MA in Design Practice, and also studied at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. In 2017, she won Dressmaker of the Year in the Children’s Wear category.
Teddyand.me was inspired by Georgia’s desire to nurture her son’s creativity and originality. She believes that every child is unique - the clothes they wear and the toys they play with are a vital part of how they learn to be themselves.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US
Laura
I pattern tested the #MakeTeddy pattern using upcycled fabrics from my daughters treasured baby clothes.
Following the birth of my much-loved first child I was diagnosed with PND and six years later I had been struggling to let go of her childhood clothes as it brought back mixed emotions. Making these special clothes into teddy helped me recognize that my PND would always be a part of my history, but it is not who we are today. After some tearful nights, quiet moments and learning some new sewing skills a bear was born. Made with love, for my little girl, giving it to her I held them both close and cried with love. She has named her bear Honey.

I am a big supporter of The British Heart Foundation after my youngest child was diagnosed with Coarctation of the Aorta at just 12 days old. He had surgery 7 weeks later to repair the coarctation, but his aorta is not growing as it should so we are awaiting a catheter procedure and he will require several valves to be replaced. However, he is a very happy boy who copies everything his big brother does and he is a total delight. I wanted to show my support for the BHF, so I decided to entre this years #TheBigStitch, I volunteered to pattern test the #VortexTshirt pattern as it was perfect for upcycling the 3 t-shirts I had purchased from the BHF shop. I was nervous about sewing jersey fabrics, but the pattern came together beautifully and the effect of mixing the 3 tshirts is just brilliant. I made the Tshirt for my middle child and both he and I are made up with the result!

Hi, I bought your teddy and me pattern on the 6th in manchester … so lovely… I lost my wonderful Dad 18 months ago and am still broken hearted… I kept a few of his suites. He was always smartly dressed and I just couldn’t part with them. Well I did it… I cut one up, very carefully, and made your teddy. It’s for me he’ll sit on my work table. so my lovely pa is always with me. I also added a bow tie as pa always wore a tie of some sort … wishing you all the luck with your venture . A joy to make …many thanks Joanne xx

Are they trousers? Are they shorts?? Nope they’re #ArtyPants! Another totally awesome upcycle #patterntesting for teddyand.me using a couple of Granddads shirts and some fabric from my stash. Feel proper special that I get to do these first, Cerys is going to be over the moon! Fab pattern and super instructions, can’t wait for launch day!!

I treated myself to a sewing day in front of the TV and pattern tested the #MakeTeddy sewing pattern. I made my bear from this fun harlequin fabric and I loved the way the bear came together. There are some tricky parts to the pattern but the step-by-step photographs really helped me put it all together. He was a pleasure to make!

I’m a Mother of two girls, my oldest has just turned 12 and when Georgia from teddyand.me asked me if my daughter Milly would try the #VortexT-shirt for size and fit, we jumped at the chance. The sample tshirt was lovely, a really fun design and the fit was perfect and we had the most fun modeling and taking pictures. We can’t wait to try out the next design.

I contacted teddyand.me after I saw a post on Facebook calling out for pattern testers of the #VortexTshirt – I was keen to have a go.
I really like the look of the pattern and although I found parts quite difficult, once I got my head around it I found it went together quickly.
I think confident sewists would enjoy this pattern. I used scraps of leftover dinosaur fabric, we are BIG DINO fans in this house and my finished tshirt is lovely, nice and funky.

I’m a chemistry teacher by profession and love all things science, but I am also a self-confessed craft-a-holic, with crochet and patchwork being my main passions.
When I pattern tested the #MakeTeddy pattern I wanted to bring my two loves together so I chose these fabulous science themed fabrics for my teddy. I was concerned whether I would manage to handle all of the little pieces of the pattern, but I followed the instructions to the letter and I really enjoyed it. I did find some bits tricky, especially the feet, but the pattern book guided me through and I am thrilled with the results. Science Ted now lives in our lab at school keeping a watchful eye on everything.

I enjoyed picking out the different materials for the front – Dan picked out the main picture as it was one of his t-shirts that he was still wearing even though it was about 4 sizes too short! Was a great way to let him keep wearing it.
The picture for the vortex was really helpful and the instructions were very clear. Loved doing this. I Love the instruction to tack along the hems and then use this to direct the proper stitches. I’ve never done that before and it made life much easier so I shall use that trick going forward.
I really enjoyed making this and Dan loves it! He was asking me when he was going to get to wear it as soon as he saw the front. Dan wants an old Pikachu t-shirt using next and my daughter also has her eye on one! I’m going to be busy!

I’m a Mum of two boys and I’m always on the look out for unique and fun clothing. When Georgia from teddyand.me asked me if my eldest son would spare a few minutes testing the size and fit of the #VortexTshirt I was happy to help. The sample shirt was a great fit and the neck went over his head perfectly! Jack also loved it, so I better get my ‘sew-on’ when this pattern launches and I really hope teddyand.me decide to do versions for us grown-ups too!

I made this teddy from the #MakeTeddy sewing pattern I was really pleased with the results. The pattern was easy to follow and came together well. My youngest son Eli has named him Cuddles. Cuddles now lives with Pongo the Rabbit and Rocky a small stone (yes stone!) he has adopted! Needless to say Cuddles is a great success and we are looking forward to trying a #VortexTshirt next. Watch this space!
